The West = The best

This week has been a busy one.

Spent two days at a work retreat in Hotel Vitale (a very nice, modern hotel in SF’s Embarcadero), which was awesome - it’s amazing how things are so different, yet so similar to London over here.

Felt like I’ve learned a lot from those two days - our DigiWest team (including me) presented 5-minute presentations each and it was great to hear their insights on the digital space. By the end I was knackered - kinda proves that learning from your peers is the best way of developing at work. Kudos to Cricket Wardein and Mary Corcoran for setting it all up. Videos/photos from our crazy scavenger hunt to follow.

Also had some awesome presentations on creativity, which I hope to put to practice back in London (especially for brainstorms) - all about gathering fewer people with specialisms, rather than hoarding 20 disinterested people into a room and asking them for ideas (which is what we’re doing most of the time right now).

This weekend I’ve been doing the touristy thing; visiting Chinatown, North Beach and Fisherman’s Wharf. San Franciscans are really, really friendly; right from the hotel staff (except The Clift - where they are too pretentious to be nice), to the cafe owners and even just random pedestrians.

Work begins again tomorrow, but will try to update this a little more this week.
